December 15, 2012

A friend and former coworker presented an interesting request:
Christmas cards incorporating eagles.
This took a bit of pondering, but I did come up with something! She loved them.
I am submitting to the Just Add Christmas challenge this week at Just Add Ink.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Four the Holidays, Lovely As A Tree, eagle stamp (from Ben Franklin online store)
Ink: Early Espresso, Garden Green
Paper: Confetti White, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler
Tool: Big Shot, Petals-A-Plenty EF, Apothecary Framelits; Tearing Edge
Embellishments: Early Espresso Baker's Twine, Stickles (sparkly stuff on the trees)

November 17, 2010

A friend just recently learned of my hobby and quickly requested a few birthday cards!

November 10, 2012

Love how this monochromatic card turned out!

I've made a card similar to this before, but I added a bit of color this time.

Sometimes, it's awkward making a completely blank card.

Other times, it turns out a little better!

Another completely blank, was going for one with masculine feel.

November 7, 2012

Came up with this card for two challenges this week. A sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches - I just couldn't get a circle shape to work out right so I substituted with the tabbed rectangle from the Apothecary framelits. But I definitely kept it clean (I even refrained from using an embossing folder on the card front portion)! And a color challenge from Color Throwdown - I hope I have time to do another one before the deadline because I feel like that combo has so much potential!
This card is going to the staff of Harvest Bible Chapel of Peoria for all their hard work and dedication to get us moved into our new church building before our Grand Opening THIS Sunday!!!

Supplies:
Paper: Lucky LimeAde, old, old Night of Navy DSP (yay, used a bit more DSP!), Basic Black, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Tools: Big Shot, Apothecary framelits, Stripes EF, Little Leaves Sizzlit
Embellishments: SAB Brads

November 2, 2012

I made this card based on the sketch challenge over at Just Add Ink this week. I always get so excited about DSPs ... then take forever to actually use them! I'm pretty sure my problem is that I over-think the situation when I try to use it on a card. I end up talking myself out of using any DSP, then my supply keeps building. :) But, I kept it simple and used a bit for this one.

Supplies:
Stamps: A Little Birthday Cheer, A Slice of Life
Ink: VersaMark, Melon Mambo, Pacific Point
Paper: SAB Ice Cream Parlor DSP, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Tools: Scallop Border punch, heat tool
Embellishments: SAB buttons, 3/8" Daffodil Delight Taffeta ribbon, Basic Rhinestones, Tangerine Tango EP

October 24, 2012

The batteries in my camera are dead! My iPhone didn't do too bad a job, though. This card is for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge this week.
I took a new job about 2 months ago and it completely changed my schedule - I have only Wednesdays and the weekend off and don't get home until 6:30, maybe later but sometimes sooner. So, my card-making time is even more limited than it was previously! But I have customer orders - some unique Christmas cards and a small pack of cards to be given as a Christmas gift! That is to say: sorry for being a bit MIA, but you should be seeing more of me in the next month. :)

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Lovely As a Tree, A Little Birthday Cheer
Ink: Soft Suede, Garden Green
Paper: Garden Green, Soft Suede, Well Worn, DSP, Very Vanilla, River Rock
Tools: 2 1/2" circle punch, Tearing Edge
Embellishments: Designer Buttons Neutrals, 1 1/2" Soft Suede Striped Grosgrain ribbon

July 29, 2012

I think the challenge at The Paper Players this week is totally fun! A tic tac toe/bingo type format that allows you to choose your own combination so long as they are connected/in a line. What a great idea - be sure to go check it out! First, check out my cards for the challenge.

I was inspired by this card by Kim Badelt when I saw it last week. I knew I would use the idea somehow and was mulling it over for a few days. I decided to go for a masculine card and leave out all the white. So, for the PP106 challenge I chose the column with favorite color, masculine, punches. I know, I used more than one color. What can I say? I like COLOR period, and can't choose just one!

Supplies
Stamp Sets: Thank You Kindly, Extreme Elements
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Cherry Cobbler, Lucky LimeAde, Island Indigo
Paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso textured, Whisper White
Tools: Corner Rounder punch (so ... I only used one punch! To be fair, I was thinking I would use a square punch, but it didn't work out with the size of the image)
Embellishments: Naturals Button, Baker's Twine Early Espresso

---------
My second card was also inspired by someone else's creation... Jennifer Timko put together this fun card. When I saw it, I decided to "pin it" for later. :) Again, I decided to pass on the white background! (Nothing against white...) This matches up with the L-R diagonal on the PP106 challenge board: Circles, Dry Embossing, Punches.

Supplies
No Stamps
Paper: Baja Breeze, Rich Razzleberry, Crumb Cake, Pocketful of Posies DSP, Poppy Parade
Tools: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF, various Circle punches 3/4" - 2 1/2"
Embellishments: crochet thread, Designer Button Brights Rich Razzleberry

For the Stampin' Royalty challenge this week - which is "Buttons!" - I made this card. It is a Sympathy card, but the sentiment is inside the card (from the As Close as a Memory set). July 18, 2012

This card makes me happy. :) It was fun to create - I started out just wanting to use the tree silhouette. Then I decided to sponge a "scene" and picked the sentiment stamp. Chose the colors, cut the [free-hand] clouds and got to masking! I am submitting it to the Stampin' Royalty challenge.

Supplies
Stamp Sets: Serene Silhouettes, Pursuit of Happiness
Ink: Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Garden Green, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Tools: Large Oval, Big Shot, the label shape is from the Matchbox die, sponge, 1" Circle punch, sponge dauber

This week from ColorQ the inspiration image is a clean and simple art print. So, I decided to use that same CAS style, as you can see. I was inspired to make two! The second lends a more masculine feel.

Ink: Real Red, Pear Pizzazz, Basic Black
Paper: Crumb Cake
Tools: Scoring Tool, hole punch

I love the  challenge from The Paper Players this week! "Wordsmith" - make words the focal point. This is perfect for the cards I tend to make for one particular elmDesigns customer; a significant portion of the cards I make for her tend to be that very style. In fact I purchased the Blessings from Heaven set and the Trust God set (that one is new to the 2012-2013 catalog) with her in mind. I made two cards for the challenge as you can see below:

Supplies
Stamp Set: Trust God

Made my second card with the Summer Afternoon Hostess set. (Hope to make a third today with the wheelbarrow and puppy!) Can you believe that I've been a demonstrator for 5 years and I just bought Watercolor Paper for the first time! I felt this set warranted the purchase. :) This card was made using the colors from Pals Paper Arts last week - but I was a little over a day late to link it. But the sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches, which has 2 days left before the deadline!

Today is my grandmother's 80th birthday! I've been lucky to get hours at work and was actually working today; otherwise, I would have loved to spend the day making her birthday special. At least my mom got to be with her!

Although I used the colors from Challenge 138 over at ColorQ, I missed their deadline. I used the sketch from Mojo Monday (which I rarely do - I find their sketches difficult to mesh with my style sometimes). I think I was finally able to pull one off. :) My card is a 5" square.

Aaaand she's back! Wow. Time has been flying by and it has NOT included stamping. Can't believe 4 months passed since I last made a card. Hopefully, I can manage to continue to carve out time for my favorite hobby!! I hopped around my favorite Challenge Blogs and found a sketch over at Stampin 411.  Here is the card I made for the challenge:

Supplies:
Stamp Set: Fabulous Florets
Ink: Basic Gray, Wisteria Wonder, Lucky LimeAde

I squeaked out this card a coule of weeks ago to give as a Thank You for a guy.

 ----------
And this one I made yesterday for a friend who ordered a pack of 12 cards from me - I had 11 sitting in a box, but just needed one more. :)

The "buttons" on the bottom are layered 3/4" and 1" circles with holes punched in them and a thin brushing of Crystal Effects.

January 28, 2012

This color scheme comes from this weeks ColorQ challenge. I took the liberty of adding some Baja Breeze as that color caught my eye in the inspiration photo, even though she didn't list it among the colors for the challenge. Also, the sketch comes from the Friday Mashup challenge. Ironically, the other half of the "mashup" challenge was to use something new; the DSP and the red ribbon are quite old, in fact!

Stamp Set: A Slice of Life
Ink: StazOn, More Mustard, Riding Hood Red
Paper: Crumb Cake, Riding Hood Red, More Mustard and Old Olive DSP, Old Olive, Whisper White
Tools: Big Shot, Ovals die
