My little boy starts kindergarten next week. Yikes! Tonight is Meet the Teacher. I made this pack of 10 Thank You cards - what teacher doesn't need those on-hand?! Adam and I made the Bookworm bookmark together. I had this box but it has the logo of a local day spa on the top, so I covered it with some Sweet Pea DSP that I still have! It all fits in with the challenge from Catherine & Cathy Create to make something "In the Garden."

Supplies for the Bookworm:
Ink: Old Olive (sponged)
Paper: Old Olive
Tools: Circle punches 3/4"-1 3/8", sponge
Embellishments: googly eyes!

This is a 4x4 card

August 5, 2013

We have been busy this summer. Work has been crazy, draining my evening energy. And I've been getting things together, running to appointments and turning in paperwork so we'll be ready to send our little boy to kindergarten!! Unbelievable!
I made some time yesterday and today to get some cards made. A few for a customer, a couple to put with baby shower gifts and some example cards to use while making cards with my aunt this weekend! She made a few cards with my help a couple of years ago. We are going for a visit Friday and Saturday so she asked if I could bring stuff to make a few cards while I'm there. Can't say "no" to that. :)
This one will go to my customer and be used this weekend! I found the sketch at a site I just found today while searching for inspiration, Paper Craft Crew

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Lovely as a Tree, Vintage Labels
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Gumball Green
Paper: Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Midnight Muse, Gumball Green, Very Vanilla
Tools: 1" Circle punch, 7/8" Scalloped Circle punch, Big Shot, Square Lattice EF
Embellishments: Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, brass brad, Smooch Spritz Log Cabin

The Colour Q has a pretty color combo this week! I do not have much Orchid Opulence left in my stash of scraps - I was, actually, surprised I had any! I'm glad I did, though, because other lavenders just didn't do the combo justice.

Supplies:
Stamp Set: A Word for You
Ink: Basic Gray, Pool Party
Paper: Pool Party, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White, Orchid Opulence
Tools: Big Shot, Finial Press EF, Adorning Accents Edgelit scallop, Decorative Label punch, sponge
Embellishments: Basic Gray stitched grosgrain ribbon

I have a made few cards here and there in the last 2 months, but it has been hard to find time for my hobby lately! I have a customer waiting for an order now, so I've had to make time. Not that I mind. :) The ones shown in this post I made today and found inspiration from challenge sites, as usual! My customer always likes a few cards that are completely blank.
First, a sketch and color challenge from two different sites. Colors from Color Throwdown. Sketch from The Paper Players.

Supplies:
Paper: Pool Party, Very Vanilla, Elegant Soiree DSP, Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake
Tools: Big Shot, Elegant Lines EF, Apothecary Accents Framelit, Blossom punch, 1 3/4" and 7/8" Scallop Circle punches, 3/4" circle punch
Embellishments: Pool Party ribbon and button, Crumb Cake button

Second, this sketch comes from Freshly Made Sketches.

Supplies:
Paper: Summer Starfruit, Baja Breeze, Comfort Cafe
Tools: Simply Scored Borders Plate
Embellishments: Soft Suede striped grosgrain, Baja Breeze seam binding, Cajun Craze button, crochet thread

I haven't had as much time these last couple weeks to be stamping! :-/ But I snuck in one card this evening. It's such a perky little card - I know I would like to receive it. Supplies:
Stamp Set: Delightful Dozen

Paper: Naturals White, Parker's Patterns DSP, Sahara Sand, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Tools: Big Shot, Ovals die, 7/8" Scallop Punch
Embellishments: Melon Mambo button (SAB)

Color Refresh 2013

Stampin' Up! has just announced a Color Refresh. I can't decide whether to cry over the discontinuation of Baja Breeze or jump for joy that they're bringing back Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz. I, also, could lament the fact that they did NOT bring back Poppy Parade (a color that I failed to appreciate while it was available but have, on multiple occasions since it's disappearance, wished I had).
I admit I'm a bit baffled by the blues. I must say Bashful Blue could have gone with the last color overhaul! So, that decision I'm good with. I always liked Soft Sky, but I find it weird that they are bringing that color back AND keeping Pool Party... they are so similar. Weird choice. Especially, in light of the removal of my beloved Baja Breeze (with retention of Marina Mist?!). And I've used so much more Not Quite Navy than Night of Navy. I do think I'll like having Bermuda Bay back, though! I am partial to teal colors (and Tempting Turquoise does not count and is another color for which I have no fuzzy feelings!) so I will be glad to have one in the selection again!
Regal Rose was neither here for there to me; same with Pretty in Pink. Blushing Bride was a near immediate favorite when it was an In Color so I'm glad to see it's return. I certainly agree with removing Certainly Celery. Pear Pizzazz is better, one if the best greens they've had, in my opinion. The other leaving-Regals don't bother me, either. And River Rock was one color I could just never quite make work for any project - until they offered the Well Worn DSP.
I am interested to see the Smoky Slate. Assuming it is a light gray, I will like it!
Overall, though, the changes are satisfying. Take a look:

What do you think of the changes?

March 21, 2013

Color Challenges are my favorite. That is just how my brain works. Often my "own" inspiration is sitting down, grabbing my ring of color swatches and picking a few colors... an idea forms and, soon, a card forms! So, I am happy when I find places for color inspiration like the Play Date Cafe. The darker green in this weeks color splash proved a bit challenging for me but I scrounged up some Handsome Hunter which worked just fine. I also decided to add the lighter lavender hue - there is a little of it in the inspiration photo, so I didn't feel to guilty about it. ;)

Supplies:
Stamp Set: Bring on the Cake
Ink: Elegant Eggplant
Paper: Pear Pizzazz, Naturals White, Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder, Handsome Hunter
Tools: Big Shot, Little Leaves Sizzlit, Top Note die, Square Lattice EF, 1 3/4" Scallop Circle punch
Embellishments: pleated Pear Pizzazz ribbon, Designer Button Elegant Eggplant

I am really liking both the color scheme and the sketch this week from a couple of my favorite challenge sites. I will probably make another card for both of them! Had to change it up a bit due to not having the retired colors, but the colors are from ColorQ and the sketch comes from Freshly Made Sketches. This Whimsy set hasn't seen ink for a long time!

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Birthday Whimsy, Bring on the Cake
Ink: Pacific Point, Basic Black
Paper: Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Marina Mist
Tools: Big Shot, Chevron EF, Large Scallop border edgelit, stapler
Embellishments: crochet thread, Basic Black 1/4" grosgrain ribbon

March 16, 2013

I used the color scheme from the previous week at Play Date Cafe. Just didn't get around to making a card until it was too late. I did use a current challenge from Freshly Made Sketches, though! I flipped it because I wanted to use Melon Mambo for the strip across but didn't have a piece that could make it across a horizontal layout! I am down to scraps of that color - unbelievable!

Supplies:
Stamp Set: For All You Do, A Word for You
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery, Melon Mambo
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Certainly Celery DSP (Just 4 You, I think), Whisper White
Tools: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots EF
Embellishments: Whisper White 1/8" Taffeta ribbon, Designer Button Brights Tempting Turquoise, Tempting Turquoise Brad

I have been trying to make a card with the sketch at Just Add Ink for the week. It just wasn't clicking with me, for some reason. Finally, today I managed to come up with something - of course, I was too late to submit it! I also used the colors from the Color Throwdown challenge this week - I did add green for the leaves/stems. And I just now realized I was supposed to use Crumb Cake but forgot! :-/

Found some time this morning to make a card for two challenges:
Freshly Made Sketches and The Play Date Cafe (a site I found just recently).
It looks better in real life, I think, but what can I do? :) For the color challenge I really had to scrounge! I pulled out scraps and dug deep into my collection of ... abandoned colors.

Ink: Basic Gray
Paper: Blush Blossom, Groovy Guava, Sage Shadow (I think!!), old DSP
Tools: Modern Label punch, Big Shot, Lacy Brocade EF

February 21, 2013

I have been creating many cards during my 2-month-blog-absence. I simply had a laptop that was trying to bite the dust. It would take SO long to do simple tasks! My dear, technologically savvy husband kept his eye out for a good price on a new-but-slightly-used one (he was more irritated about it's slowness than I was and he hardly EVER even touched it!). Last week, out of the blue, I got a new laptop! So, I'm back in action. I will, hopefully, get the chance in the near future to post all the cards I have been making. I will start with one I made for the Stampin' Royalty Challenge this week (I made a second one posted here)

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Madison Avenue
Ink: Melon Mambo, Basic Black
Paper: Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Basic Black
Tools: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch
Embellishments: Glitter Brad neutrals, Lucky LimeAde ribbon

Thanks for clicking over to my blog today! I'll try to be back with more soon. :)
