It's that time of year - thank you time! Christmas meant lots of gifts for my husband as he is a Jr High youth pastor to some grateful kids and parents. I received a generous gift from the doctors with whom I work. What better way to show appreciation for the many gift cards than a handmade thank-you card! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I usually give a description for each card, but not today. I'm just going to bombard you with a bunch of pictures! The first pair are not TY's, just a couple that I made a few months ago and never posted.</div>

My little boy starts kindergarten next week. Yikes! Tonight is Meet the Teacher. I made this pack of 10 Thank You cards - what teacher doesn't need those on-hand?! Adam and I made the Bookworm bookmark together. I had this box but it has the logo of a local day spa on the top, so I covered it with some Sweet Pea DSP that I <i>still</i> have! It all fits in with the challenge from <a href="http://www.catherineandcathycreate.com/2013/08/CCC005.html">Catherine & Cathy Create</a> to make something "In the Garden."</div>

We have been busy this summer. Work has been crazy, draining my evening energy. And I've been getting things together, running to appointments and turning in paperwork so we'll be ready to send our little boy to kindergarten!! Unbelievable! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I made some time yesterday and today to get some cards made. A few for a customer, a couple to put with baby shower gifts and some example cards to use while making cards with my aunt this weekend! She made a few cards with my help a couple of years ago. We are going for a visit Friday and Saturday so she asked if I could bring stuff to make a few cards while I'm there. Can't say "no" to that. :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This one will go to my customer and be used this weekend! I found the sketch at a site I just found today while searching for inspiration, <a href="http://www.papercraftcrew.com/2013/07/31/pcccs-52-card-sketch/">Paper Craft Crew</a>. </div>

<span style="text-align: start;">I have a made few cards here and there in the last 2 months, but it has been hard to find time for my hobby lately! I have a customer waiting for an order now, so I've had to make time. Not that I mind. :) The ones shown in this post I made today and found inspiration from challenge sites, as usual! My customer always likes a few cards that are completely blank.</span></div>

Today as I was doing laundry, I was inspired by one of my scrub tops. </div>

Here is the card I created:</div>

Stampin' Up! has just announced a Color Refresh. I can't decide whether to cry over the discontinuation of Baja Breeze or jump for joy that they're bringing back Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz. I, also, could lament the fact that they did NOT bring back Poppy Parade (a color that I failed to appreciate while it was available but have, on multiple occasions <i>since</i> it's disappearance, wished I had). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I admit I'm a bit baffled by the blues. I must say Bashful Blue could have gone with the <i>last</i> color overhaul! So, that decision I'm good with. I always liked Soft Sky, but I find it weird that they are bringing that color back AND keeping Pool Party... they are so similar. Weird choice. Especially, in light of the removal of my beloved Baja Breeze (with retention of Marina Mist?!). And I've used so much more Not Quite Navy than Night of Navy. I do think I'll like having Bermuda Bay back, though! I am partial to teal colors (and Tempting Turquoise does not count and is another color for which I have no fuzzy feelings!) so I will be glad to have one in the selection again!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Regal Rose was neither here for there to me; same with Pretty in Pink. Blushing Bride was a near immediate favorite when it was an In Color so I'm glad to see it's return. I certainly agree with removing Certainly Celery. Pear Pizzazz is better, one if the best greens they've had, in my opinion. The other leaving-Regals don't bother me, either. And River Rock was one color I could just never quite make work for any project - until they offered the Well Worn DSP.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am interested to see the Smoky Slate. Assuming it is a light gray, I will like it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Overall, though, the changes are satisfying. Take a look:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q9XUK5r-IXE/UV40Zc9zfRI/AAAAAAAABHY/PFhgtMyb49g/s1600/Color+Refresh+2013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q9XUK5r-IXE/UV40Zc9zfRI/AAAAAAAABHY/PFhgtMyb49g/s320/Color+Refresh+2013.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What do you think of the changes?</div>

Color Challenges are my favorite. That is just how my brain works. Often my "own" inspiration is sitting down, grabbing my ring of color swatches and picking a few colors... an idea forms and, soon, a card forms! So, I am happy when I find places for color inspiration like the <a href="http://theplaydatecafe.blogspot.com/2013/03/welcome-spring-pdcc174.html">Play Date Cafe</a>. The darker green in this weeks color splash proved a bit challenging for me but I scrounged up some Handsome Hunter which worked just fine. I also decided to add the lighter lavender hue - there is a little of it in the inspiration photo, so I didn't feel to guilty about it. ;)</div>

I am really liking both the color scheme and the sketch this week from a couple of my favorite challenge sites. I will probably make another card for both of them! Had to change it up a bit due to not having the retired colors, but the colors are from <a href="http://colourq.blogspot.com/2013/03/colourq-challenge-181.html">ColorQ</a> and the sketch comes from <a href="http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/2013/03/freshly-made-sketches-78-sketch-by-jen-m.html">Freshly Made Sketches</a>. I used the color scheme from the previous week at <a href="http://theplaydatecafe.blogspot.com/2013/03/lets-be-friends-pdcc172.html">Play Date Cafe</a>. Just didn't get around to making a card until it was too late. I did use a current challenge from <a href="http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/2013/03/fms-77-sketch-from-jennifer-t.html">Freshly Made Sketches</a>, though! I flipped it because I wanted to use Melon Mambo for the strip across but didn't have a piece that could make it across a horizontal layout! I am down to scraps of that color - unbelievable!</div>

I have been trying to make a card with the sketch at <a href="http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2013/03/jai155-sketch-challenge.html">Just Add Ink</a> for the week. It just wasn't clicking with me, for some reason. Finally, today I managed to come up with something - of course, I was too late to submit it! I also used the colors from the <a href="http://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com/2013/03/color-throwdown-232.html">Color Throwdown</a> challenge this week - I did add green for the leaves/stems. And I just now realized I was supposed to use Crumb Cake but forgot! :-/</div>

Found some time this morning to make a card for two challenges:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/2013/02/freshly-made-sketches-75-sketch-by-tui.html">Freshly Made Sketches</a> and <a href="http://theplaydatecafe.blogspot.com/2013/02/stuck-on-color-pdcc171.html">The Play Date Cafe</a> (a site I found just recently).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It looks better in real life, I think, but what can I do? :) For the color challenge I really had to scrounge! I pulled out scraps and dug deep into my collection of ... abandoned colors.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Supplies:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Stamp Set: Occasional Quotes</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Ink: Basic Gray</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Embellishments: Chantilly ribbon, brad is actually in Calypso Coral SAB</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

I have been creating many cards during my 2-month-blog-absence. I simply had a laptop that was trying to bite the dust. It would take SO long to do simple tasks! My dear, technologically savvy husband kept his eye out for a good price on a new-but-slightly-used one (he was more irritated about it's slowness than I was and he hardly EVER even touched it!). Last week, out of the blue, I got a new laptop! So, I'm back in action. I will, hopefully, get the chance in the near future to post all the cards I have been making. I will start with one I made for the <a href="http://stampinroyalty.blogspot.com/2013/02/stampin-royalty-challenge-164.html">Stampin' Royalty</a> Challenge this week (I made a second one posted <a href="http://stampingwithellen.blogspot.com/2013/02/february-22-2013.html">here</a>)</div>
