I'm Finally Back!!!

We got back from CO last Tuesday evening. Then it was unpacking, grocery buying, laundry, car cleaning, a Stampin' Up! workshop, work from 3-11pm all 3 weekend days, house cleaning and the usual "life" activities. FINALLY today came the chance to sit at my stamping table and play!! I, of course, have been keeping my eye on the blogs I follow which post challenges. This card is a response to this weeks Just Add Ink Challenge, a sketch or layout challenge.

Stamp Sets: Thank You Kindly, One of a Kind
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss
Paper: Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze DSP (retired), Chocolate Chip textured, Whisper White
Tools: Boho Blossoms Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, dimensionals

September 10, 2010

Aah! I can't believe we're in the double digit days of September already! But that's good news for me as we will be heading to Colorado on Tuesday. :) I think I may go through withdrawals from stamping... but it should be a fun trip!

I have started an order of 2 packs of cards for Christmas gifts. The giver :) said the receivers :) like bright colors; I've enjoyed finding new color combos of bright colors. Here is one of them.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Perfect Punches, Polka Dots & Paisley
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Old Olive
Paper: Crumb Cake, Real Red, Old Olive, Sweet Pea, Whisper White
Tools: Scallop Edge punch, White Embossing Powder, heat tool
Embellishments: 5/8" Real Red Polka Dot grosgrain ribbon, Brights Brad, Designer Buttons Neutrals, crochet thread colored with Tempting Turquoise marker

I think I will try my hand at setting up a future post to show another one while I'm gone... We'll see if that works. If not, you won't hear from me until I get back. I've got to squeeze in packing between working Sat, Sun & Mon!!

September 3, 2010

Sooo, even though I said I had a lot to do (and that's true) and I probably wouldn't post til after the weekend... I squeezed in another card. I was waiting for bread dough to rise, so I had to do something! :) Right after setting the bread dough aside to rise, I decided to hop around on my favorite challenge blogs. Just Add Ink has a great sketch challenge and my gears started turning. Maybe I should bake and craft more often as I am quite pleased with how this turned out!

I have not even a scrap of Bravo Burgundy card stock right now!! BUT when I went through my ring filled with all the SU! card stock colors (my usual starting point...) I chose these 3: So Saffron, Baja Breeze and Bravo Burgundy. Also, while you can certainly use other shapes here, I really like the Decorative Label shape. BUT I don't have the Decorative Label punch (YET! it is available now in the Holiday Mini!).

My solution to these two problems was to take one of my extras from the Matchbox die, tacked it onto a piece of Very Vanilla, grabbed my sponge dauber and my Bravo Burgundy ink pad and Voila! Then I used another scrap piece that the label had been cut from and used it to mask as I stamped the flowers. Also, the edges of the entire card were swiped with the dauber.

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Kind & Caring Thoughts, Botanical Blooms
Ink: Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Bravo Burgundy
Paper: So Saffron, Urban Oasis, Very Vanilla
Tools: Big Shot, Matchbox die Labels, Sponge Dauber, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig
Embellishments: 5/8" So Saffron Grosgrain Ribbon, 1/8" Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, Antique Brads

September 2, 2010

Happy Thursday to you! We are expecting 70* weather for the weekend!! This is great news as we will be heading to spend the weekend with my grandparents who have a hammock and a back deck in the shade. :)

That being said. This could be my last posting for at least a couple days. Once naptime is over today, I'll pretty much be busy, running around or gone until after church Sunday!

This card is for 2 challenges this week: Picture Perfect Creations Color Combo #28 and Stampin 411 posted a technique challenge. The color challenge: Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze and Pink pirouette. A great color scheme, but I was hard-pressed for a set that I thought befit it. It seems very shabby chic or vintage... I dug for one of the few floral sets I have; I chose this one because it is light, airy and dainty and would be most likely to work with the technique. The Technique Challenge was Spotlighting, something I have unsuccessfully attempted in the past. I just need to get more appropriate stamp sets! (Key words: MORE stamp sets!!!)

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Botanical Blooms, Thank You Kindly
Ink: Basic Black, Black StazOn, Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobbler (dipped my blender pen in ink and colored)
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Taste of Textiles (textured black piece), Urban Oasis DSP (Baja piece), Very Vanilla
Tools: Blender Pen, 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon Very Vanilla, Scallop Edge punch, 1" & 1 1/4" Circle punches, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, 2Way glue pen, dimensionals (between the Vanilla and Pink circles), mini glue dot for the bow

September 1, 2010

Happy September! And Merry Christmas! :)

The challenge on the Stampin' Royalty site this week was no challenge at all: use pearls and/or rhinestones. Well, I don't have rhinestones, but I have the Basic Pearls from SU! and I LOVE THEM!!! There are 3 different sizes of pearls and 3 small strings of pearls; all have adhesive backing. They make for quick, easy and elegant embellishment.

My living room is black, red and gold. This will fit perfectly in it and sit nicely on a shelf or in one of my shadow boxes. This frame was on clearance at Walmart for $1.50!

Supplies:
Stamp Sets: Delightful Decorations, Come to Bethlehem
Ink: VersaMark
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
Tools: Big Shot, Texturz Background 1, Ornament punch, Gold EP, heat tool
Embellishments: Basic Pearls, 5/8" Satin Ribbon Whisper White
