January 28, 2012

This color scheme comes from this weeks ColorQ challenge. I took the liberty of adding some Baja Breeze as that color caught my eye in the inspiration photo, even though she didn't list it among the colors for the challenge. Also, the sketch comes from the Friday Mashup challenge. Ironically, the other half of the "mashup" challenge was to use something new; the DSP and the red ribbon are quite old, in fact!

Stamp Set: A Slice of Life
Ink: StazOn, More Mustard, Riding Hood Red
Paper: Crumb Cake, Riding Hood Red, More Mustard and Old Olive DSP, Old Olive, Whisper White
Tools: Big Shot, Ovals die
Embellishments: Dress Up Ribbon Originals (I think!), Antique Brad, 1/8" Baja Breeze Taffeta ribbon

I've been wanting to try this butterfly with the Blossom punch since seeing it in the mini. I paired it up with the Color Challenge from The Paper Players. These antennae happened by accident. I layered the two butterflies and the Coral one was a bit bigger so I started to trim just that little area. The "tip" of the trim did not quite meet, so those tiny strips stayed on and I noticed they looked like antennae! Perfect. :)

Stamp Set: Mixed Bunch
Ink: VersaMark, Calypso Coral (sponge dauber to center of butterfly)
Paper: Blushing Bride, Basic Gray, Calypso Coral
Tools: Big Shot, Texturz Plates Backgrounds 1, Blossom punch, White EP, heat tool, sponge dauber
Embellishments: Pear Pizzazz pleated ribbon, Basic Pearls

Lucky Hostess Workshop

It's almost Sale-A-Bration time. (Start Jan 24th) Remember - that's when you get something free for every $50 you spend! I am eager to amp up my stamping and want you to join me!!! So... I'm planning a workshop featuring the new Simply Scored apparatus, Mixed Bunch set and coordinating Blossom Punch from the current Occasions Mini Catalog, and the embellishments pack in Sale-A-Bration. Make & Take one of these cards:

One lucky attender will get the hostess benefits! I'll draw names from those who RSVP by the deadline and attend, of course. Also, those who have a Big Shot (or other Sizzix machine) can put their name in a drawing for the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. See this post or the second card in this post, among several others here on my blog, for use of that folder.

I spent my Saturday cleaning up my basement (again) to show you my perfect spot for holding workshops. Plenty of space to work and everyone should have a good view of the project. Don't worry I'll get more chairs. :) I'm hoping you can join me on the evening of February 2nd, a Thursday. Invitation coming very soon!
