This is a double post! First is the card I made (better late than never) for Pals Paper Arts Challenge 102. I just did not have time to make it until now - I envisioned it right away looking at the inspiration picture. :)

This color combination found me, so to speak, and I love it! I was pulling out some Baja Breeze yesterday and happend to pull some Cajun Craze out as well. I thought those two colors looked good together! I pulled out my ring of "swatches" and found one more color to put with them: Early Espresso. Love it! Perfect for a guy card.

I put the Baja Breeze strip through the Big Shot on the Texturz Plate then I swiped it with the Cajun Craze pad several times. It's harder to see, but I sponged Baja Breeze on the Very Vanilla piece.

A customer at the workshop I did last night thought this dog was just so cute! But she didn't feel like she would actually use the set. I made this to send to her; I'll write on a PostIt and stick it in (instead of on the card) so she can use it.

I inked the Texturz plate by swiping/sliding the ink pad all over it. I made sure the whole plate was covered by a scratch paper so as not to get ink on my silicone pad.

I just wasn't feeling the sentiment on the front; couldn't get it in the right spot, I guess. So, I put it on the inside. Usually when one sends a Get-Well card, the note is brief - it's mostly to represent that the ill is being thought of and there is a desire to brighten their day. So, I felt it was okay to not have much writing room.

Coming & Going

First, this is sort of a "goodbye" to the current catalog. I like this Kind & Caring Thoughts stamp set - a current Hostess set that I am glad I preordered last summer when this catalog was coming out! Also, the paper and ribbon are Mellow Moss. Mellow Moss is a great green color that I never really used until now. I am working on an order for somewhat generic cards in greens, browns, white/ivory and purple. So I pulled out some of my unused greens and have come to like this one. I am a little disappointed there's no soft/elegant green to replace it. Oh well. (If YOU like this color or other colors on the retiring list you'd better act NOW.)

Next, we have a tribute to current and upcoming sets and colors. July 1st marks the date for ordering from the new catalog. This card used Wild Wasabi (green) which was a former In Color making a comeback and landing in our main color collections. Also, this showcases our purples that are hanging around - Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant. Perfect Plum is practically a perfect purple. :) However, some are quite disappointed to see the others: Lovely Lilac, Lavender Lace, Orchid Opulence, Pale Plum -- I think that's all of them -- head out the door never to return. (Again, you better order quickly if you want to stock up on these colors!) Anyway, I used 3 sets: Watercolor Trio (in our Summer Mini catalog) in the 1st and 3rd squares; Because I Care (a Level 1 Hostess set in the upcoming catalog) in the square furthest to the right); and the For All You Do butterfly. I love the texture on a background piece like this. It gives it some oomph in a simple, understated and easy way. The green square is from an old Patterns Pack. I love that it matches the images in the Texturz plate, but it can be switched out with a Wild Wasabi Designer Series Paper from the new catalog.
